The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $116 million financing package with ACWA Power to develop the 300 MW Bash 2 wind project in Uzbekistan's Bukhara region. The financing includes $50 million from ADB’s ordinary capital resources, $41 million from commercial lenders, and $25 million from the Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund 2, with ADB acting as mandated lead arranger and bookrunner. The project will feature 39 wind turbines with up to 8 MW capacity each, alongside a new 35/500 kV substation and 1.5 km of overhead transmission line connecting to the national grid. ACWA Power emphasized the project's role in advancing Uzbekistan's energy transition ambitions and supporting the country's 2030 power mix targets. ADB highlighted the deal's contribution to grid stability, carbon emissions reduction, and job creation, noting it expands ADB-supported wind capacity in Uzbekistan beyond 2 GW.
