Afry awarded engineering contract for 53 MWp San Camilo solar plant in Chile with future battery storage expansion
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Solar · Country: Chile · Capacity: 53 MWp · Announced: 2026-05-13
Swedish energy engineering consultancy Afry secured a contract with Moreau, an international engineering and construction firm, to deliver detailed engineering services for the 53 MWp San Camilo solar photovoltaic plant in Copiapó, Chile. The project, located in the Atacama region, represents the first phase of a larger renewable energy development that will later integrate battery energy storage systems (BESS) in a second stage. Afry will provide electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering expertise alongside multidisciplinary coordination for the solar facility, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and international technical standards. Moreau highlighted the strategic importance of the project as part of its expansion in Chile's renewable energy infrastructure sector. The agreement leverages Afry's proven track record in renewable energy projects across Latin America, with the detailed engineering phase serving as a foundation for the plant's future battery storage integration.
