Type: Partnership · Technology: Storage · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-06-18
Massachusetts-based Alsym Energy and Re:Build Manufacturing agreed to collaborate on establishing commercial-scale sodium-ion battery cell manufacturing in the U.S. The partnership aims to scale production for large-scale energy storage applications, including AI data centers, utilities, commercial real estate, and critical infrastructure. Alsym Energy, chaired by Graeme Grant, develops sodium-ion batteries designed to replace lithium-ion systems due to lower costs and improved safety. Re:Build Manufacturing, a Massachusetts company specializing in domestic industrial production scaling, will support the initiative. The collaboration targets reducing U.S. dependence on foreign supply chains, particularly from China, for energy storage technologies.
