Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies partners with Nuvation Energy to localize high-voltage battery management system technology in India
Type: Partnership · Technology: Storage · Country: India · Announced: 2026-07-10
Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a division of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd (ARE&M), signed a memorandum of understanding with Nuvation Energy to jointly develop and manufacture high-voltage battery management systems (BMS) in India. The collaboration targets grid-scale energy storage, commercial and industrial (C&I) systems, and renewable energy integration, leveraging Nuvation Energy’s 15 years of high-voltage BMS engineering expertise. ARACT is advancing lithium-ion battery capabilities through a INR 9,500 crore (approximately $1.1 billion) 16 GWh Gigafactory in Telangana, supported by in-house R&D at ePositive Energy Labs and a Customer Qualification Plant preparing for cell production. The partnership was announced at the 12th India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2026 in New Delhi, signaling a strategic push to build a domestic storage supply chain. ARACT’s Vikash Venkataramana emphasized the critical role of BMS in ensuring safe and reliable grid-scale storage systems as India scales its clean energy transition.
