AMD leases additional 25MW data center capacity from Riot Platforms in Texas

Chip designer AMD has exercised its option to lease an additional 25MW of critical IT capacity from Riot Platforms at its Rockdale, Texas campus. This expansion brings AMD's total contracted capacity with Riot to 50MW. The additional 25MW lease is for ten years with three five-year extension options and is expected to generate $325 million in base rent over the initial term. The expanded capacity will be delivered by May 2027 and will be housed in the same building as the original 25MW lease. Riot Platforms, formerly a cryptominer, is pivoting to become an active, revenue-generating data center operator, validating its ability to execute at scale with demanding tenants.
