Type: Acquisition · Technology: Telecom, Transport · Country: Australia · Value: $225M · Announced: 2026-10-02
Ampol Energy, a subsidiary of Ampol Limited, agreed to buy 100% of Fast Cities Australia trading as Evie Networks for $225 million on 2 October 2026. The transaction will add more than 1,030 EV charging bays to Ampol’s AmpCharge network, bringing the combined network to a total of 1,425 bays across over 400 sites in Australia. Evie Networks currently has chargers installed in over 300 locations serving commercial, fleet and local government customers and includes sites with established grid connections and expansion capacity. Ampol Managing Director Matt Halliday said the acquisition positions Ampol to capture EV uptake growth, noting utilisation in the AmpCharge network rose 116% in charging sessions and 120% in energy supplied in H1 2026. Completion is subject to clearance by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), and Ampol and Evie will continue to operate independently until regulatory approval is obtained.
