ARC Clean Technology partners with Idaho National Laboratory for first-of-a-kind ARC-100 small modular reactor deployment
Type: Partnership · Technology: Nuclear · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-08-03
ARC Clean Technology signed a multi-year framework agreement with Battelle Energy Alliance, the management and operating contractor for Idaho National Laboratory (INL), to support the first-of-a-kind deployment of the ARC-100 small modular reactor (SMR) at INL. The agreement covers the full lifecycle of the project, including engineering and design, advanced materials and manufacturing, high-performance computing and modeling, irradiation testing, reactor commissioning and operation, and site development. The ARC-100 is a 100 MWe sodium-cooled fast reactor designed for safe, flexible, and economical operation, capable of both on-grid electricity production and industrial heat applications. The partnership leverages INL's expertise in advanced reactor technologies, with support spanning reactor design, materials science, and regulatory engagement. ARC Clean Technology emphasized that a successful deployment at INL would position the ARC-100 as a compelling export opportunity, enhancing U.S. energy security and strategic relationships. The company has received an award under the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program to accelerate SMR development.
