Argentina launches AlmaSADI tender for 700 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS)

Argentina's Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico SA (CAMMESA) and the national Secretariat of Energy launched the AlmaSADI tender, seeking 700 MW of stand-alone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across multiple nodes in the country's 132 kV and 220 kV electrical networks. The initiative, estimated at USD 700 million, aims to enhance grid stability and operational flexibility by distributing storage capacity across strategic locations in provinces like Córdoba, San Luis, and Buenos Aires. Projects awarded under the tender will secure 15-year contracts with CAMMESA as the offtaker, with remuneration primarily based on power availability and frequency regulation services. Technical and administrative offers are due by May 8, 2026, with economic offers opening on June 5, 2026, and final awards scheduled for June 19, 2026. Contract signing is set for June 25, 2026, with commercial operation of the awarded projects targeted by December 31, 2029.
