AT&T signs supply partnership with Corning to expand fibre across the US
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Telecom · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-09-29
AT&T signed a supply partnership with Corning on 29 September 2026 for Corning to provide the fibre and cable required for AT&T’s ongoing US network expansion. The agreement supports AT&T’s goal of extending high-speed fibre connectivity to 60 million Americans by the end of 2030 and responds to rising consumer data use that AT&T says averages over one terabyte per month on its fibre network. Corning will leverage its US-based fibre and cable manufacturing operations, including facilities in North Carolina, to fulfil the supply obligations. AT&T said the deal aligns with its broader $250 billion-plus planned investment in US connectivity infrastructure over five years and highlights the role of AT&T’s union-represented workforce in deploying the networks. The partnership positions domestic manufacturing and supply-chain resilience as central elements of the agreement while addressing demand growth driven by streaming, cloud, gaming, and AI workloads.
