Avalon Renovables to develop 250 MW green hydrogen plant with 283 MWp solar and 16 MW wind in Málaga, Spain

Avalon Renovables, through its subsidiary Siroco Hydrogen 2, is developing H2 La Joya, a 250 MW green hydrogen production plant in La Joya, Antequera, Málaga, with a total investment of 1.2 billion euros. The facility will be powered by a 283.29 MWp photovoltaic system and a 16 MW wind farm, along with a 1,252 MWh BESS lithium-ion battery storage system. This large-scale industrial installation, currently undergoing environmental and urban planning procedures, aims to produce over 47,500 tons of e-SAF annually for the Málaga airport and 60 GWh of biomethane. Water for the process will be sourced from the Guadalhorce Wastewater Treatment Plant via an underground pipeline, with commercial operation anticipated in Q4 2029.
