SEC will invest up to A$43 million ($30.6 million) for a minority stake and has agreed a 15-year offtake covering 50% of the project’s output to support Victorian Government and commercial retail contracts. The project forms part of the Birdwood Energy Storage and Transition platform, a joint venture between Aware Super and Birdwood. Construction is expected to begin in November 2026, with operations scheduled for late 2028. The standalone battery will provide 4.65 hours of storage and includes four independently connected 100 MW/465 MWh units.
