Aypa Power acquires Pediment 250 MW / 1,000 MWh battery storage project from Eolian and sells power to Salt River Project under PPA
Type: Ppa · Technology: Storage · Country: United States · Capacity: 250 MW · Announced: 2026-06-18
Aypa Power acquired the 250 MW / 1,000 MWh Pediment battery energy storage system (BESS) from developer Eolian in 2024, marking its entry into Arizona’s high-growth energy market. The project, located at the Elliot Road Technology Corridor in Mesa, Arizona, has been brought online to serve Salt River Project (SRP) customers, providing grid flexibility and capacity. SRP now operates over 1,570 MW of battery storage alongside more than 1,560 MW of solar capacity, supporting its goal of an 82% reduction in carbon intensity from 2005 levels by 2035 and net zero emissions by 2050. Pediment is the first of two Aypa Power projects contracted with SRP, with a second 250 MW / 2,000 MWh lithium-ion BESS expected online in December 2028. The combined capacity of both projects will reach 500 MW and 3,000 MWh, reinforcing SRP’s grid reliability amid record regional growth.
