Baltic Power completes transition piece installation for 1.2GW Polish offshore wind farm
Baltic Power has successfully installed all 76 transition pieces at its 1.2GW offshore wind farm located 23km off the Polish coast, marking the conclusion of main works for the foundation package. The fabrication of these transition pieces, each approximately 20 metres high and weighing up to 350 tonnes, was supported by local factories in Żary, Niemodlin, and Łęknica, utilizing steel primarily sourced from Polish mills. The project, a joint venture between ORLEN Group and Northland Power, is currently undergoing wind turbine installation and cable laying, with around 20 vessels active daily. Contractor Van Oord deployed a heavy lift vessel with twin cranes capable of lifting 2,000 tonnes to enhance installation efficiency.
