BayWa r.e. transfers 16.8 MW Castets solar project in France to Avergies and Terra Energies

Type: Sale · Technology: Solar · Country: France · Capacity: 16.8 MW · Announced: 2026-07-08

BayWa r.e. agreed to transfer its 16.8 MWp Castets solar project in southwest France to a consortium formed by Avergies and Terra Energies. The ready‑to‑build project, developed since 2019 in cooperation with the municipality of Castets and the Côte Landes Nature community, is slated to begin construction in September 2026. Once operational, the solar farm will supply electricity to roughly 3,800 households and avoid about 6,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year. The transaction enables BayWa r.e. to focus on its EPC and long‑term operations role while bringing regional investors Avergies and Terra Energies into the French renewable market. No financial terms were disclosed, and the deal was announced in a press release on 8 July 2026.
