BID Invest provides up to $700 million financing to Posco Argentina for lithium production expansion

BID Invest will provide a revolving short-term financing line of up to $700 million to Posco Argentina to support the development and increased production of its Sal de Oro lithium project. The financing includes a $250 million tranche from BID Invest and a $450 million tranche from commercial banks, signed on August 6, 2026. These funds will be used for the commissioning and progressive increase of production at two facilities linked to Sal de Oro: one plant with an estimated capacity of up to 25,000 tons per year of lithium hydroxide and another of up to 23,000 tons per year of lithium carbonate. At full capacity, the complex is expected to produce nearly 48,000 tons of lithium products annually, creating an estimated 620 permanent formal jobs.
