Brookfield acquires minority stake in AREP

Brookfield Asset Management affiliates acquired a minority stake in American Real Estate Partners, a Washington, D.C.-based real estate investment and data center development platform, with the deal expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. AREP specializes in data center, residential, industrial, and office assets, having deployed or committed more than $30 billion and acquired over 40 million square feet of Class-A real estate. The partnership aligns Brookfield's global scale with AREP's capabilities in developing more than 32 million square feet of hyperscale data centers nationwide. AREP President Brian Katz stated the company is excited to welcome Brookfield as a partner to its differentiated real estate investment and data center development platform.
