BYD Energy Storage and Corvus Energy form strategic partnership to develop next-generation LFP marine battery systems

Type: Partnership · Technology: Storage · Country: China, Norway · Announced: 2026-05-13

BYD Energy Storage and Corvus Energy signed a strategic cooperation agreement on May 13, 2026, during the CIBF 2026 in Shenzhen to codesign next-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) marine battery systems. The partnership formalizes a deeper collaboration following a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2025, focusing on high-discharge-rate LFP battery systems for demanding marine applications. BYD will contribute LFP cell technology, battery management expertise, and large-scale manufacturing capabilities, while Corvus Energy will integrate these cells into marine energy storage systems, handle certification, system design, and global commercial deployment. Corvus, headquartered in Bergen, Norway, is a leading provider of zero-emission solutions for maritime, offshore, and port applications, having supplied over 1,350 projects across passenger, commercial, industrial, and offshore segments. BYD Energy Storage, established in 2008, supplies energy storage products for utility-scale, commercial, industrial, residential, data center, and emerging applications, including marine electrification.
