Capital Dynamics acquires 170 MW battery storage project in Ireland

Capital Dynamics has acquired the ready-to-build, four-hour Kukonkylä battery energy storage project in County Kerry, Ireland. The 170 MW facility, located in Knockanure, has secured grid connection capacity at the neighboring 110 kV Knockanure substation. The project received planning consent in October 2025 and is expected to be among the first classified as a long-duration energy storage system by EirGrid. This acquisition marks Capital Dynamics' first investment in the Republic of Ireland, expanding its portfolio of LDES projects in the broader Irish Single Electricity Market.
