Casa dos Ventos signs autoproduction lease to supply 126 MW to Sabesp via Complexo Solar Rio Brilhante
Type: Ppa · Technology: Solar · Country: Brazil · Capacity: 126 MW · Announced: 2026-07-01
Casa dos Ventos signed an autoproduction lease agreement to supply 126 MW of renewable electricity to Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (Sabesp). The electricity will be generated by the newly commissioned Complexo Solar Rio Brilhante in Mato Grosso do Sul, a solar photovoltaic complex that entered commercial operation in July 2026. The project, valued at approximately R$ 1.5 billion, was built two months ahead of schedule and will cover about 38 % of Sabesp’s total electricity consumption. Sabesp, Brazil’s eighth‑largest electricity consumer, aims to cut its Scope 2 emissions by 43 % over the next decade, and the deal marks its first large‑scale autoproduction contract in the water‑sewage sector. The lease structure allows Sabesp to benefit from regulatory exemptions for self‑producers, providing cost predictability for its operations.
