Casella Waste Systems and Waga Energy partner to launch RNG facility at Hyland Landfill

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. and Waga Energy announced a partnership to operate a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility at the Hyland Landfill in Angelica, New York. The WAGABOX® unit installed at the site processes 3,000 SCFM of landfill gas, delivering up to 610,000 MMBtu (180 GWh) of renewable gas each year. The RNG is injected directly into the Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage network, providing a clean substitute for fossil natural gas and avoiding an estimated 47,000 tons of CO₂‑equivalent emissions annually. Waga Energy funded the full construction cost, will own and operate the plant for 20 years, while Casella will share the revenue from RNG sales. The project qualifies for incentives under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, reinforcing both companies’ strategy to extract value from waste and expand renewable gas portfolios.
