CATL signs supply agreement to deliver 313 MW / 1,639.45 MWh BESS to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners for La Alegría Solar

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Storage · Country: Mexico · Announced: 2026-09-29

CATL signed a supply agreement to deliver a 313 MW / 1,639.45 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners for the La Alegría Solar project in Campeche, Mexico, announced on 2026-09-29. The BESS equals about 5.24 hours of storage at nominal power and — at 1,639.45 MWh — would be the first BESS in Mexico to exceed 1 GWh and the largest in the country to date. La Alegría Solar's environmental design previously approved by SEMARNAT described a PV plant of 788.719 MWp, 600 MW declared net capacity, 1,151,416 modules of 685 Wp, a 34.5/400 kV step-up substation and a 400 kV, 2.85 km transmission line across 1,206.97 hectares. CATL will supply its TENER platform, which the company states delivers 6.25 MWh per 20-foot container with LFP cells at 430 Wh/l and claims five years of capacity and power without degradation in initial operation. The announcement follows CIP's disclosure of contracts and funding activity—CIP closed its Growth Markets Fund II with ~$3,000 million in commitments—and the Campeche government has estimated a combined $845 million investment for La Alegría and nearby La Esperanza, with around 1,800 construction jobs and generation for over 600,000 households.
