Chantiers de l’Atlantique and partners launch RHODÉ project to develop floating HVDC electrical connections for offshore wind farms
Type: Development · Technology: Offshore Wind · Country: France · Value: EUR 16M · Announced: 2026-05-19
Chantiers de l’Atlantique and a consortium of partners have launched the RHODÉ project to develop floating HVDC electrical connections for large-scale offshore wind farms. The initiative focuses on enabling connections for projects in deep waters beyond 100 meters and far from shore, where fixed-bottom substations face limitations. The project aims to develop and validate key technology building blocks while supporting the emergence of a French industrial sector for floating electrical connections, with systems envisaged from 2040 onwards. The RHODÉ project has been awarded €16 million in funding from the French State under the France 2030 program.
