Type: Partnership · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Italy · Value: $2.5B · Announced: 2026-08-03
Chiron Energy announced an investment from Macquarie Capital to establish Chiron Energy Power Generation, a joint venture focused on developing, constructing, and managing renewable energy plants and storage systems in Italy. The new platform, 51% owned by Chiron Energy and 49% by Macquarie Capital, aims to develop and build at least 1 GW of new photovoltaic capacity and 500 MW of electrochemical storage systems. This operation is part of Chiron Energy's industrial plan, which includes total investments of approximately €2.5 billion and targets ownership and management of over 2 GW of photovoltaic capacity and 1 GW of BESS systems by 2035. The platform will initially include 115 MW of operational photovoltaic plants in Northern Italy, developed and built by Chiron Energy since 2020. The joint venture will also access Chiron Energy's pipeline, which includes over 300 MW of ready-to-build PV projects, 250 MW in late-stage development, and 700 MW of BESS systems under development.
