Cierco Energy signed a lease agreement with the Crown Estate for the Llŷr 1 and Llŷr 2 floating wind demonstration projects, each rated at 100 MW. The two sites are located approximately 40 km off the Pembrokeshire coast in water depths of 60‑70 m. The projects will deploy six to eight offshore wind turbines per site using floating foundations. The lease secures the right to develop the first commercial‑scale floating wind farms in the Celtic Sea, positioning the UK as a leader in offshore wind technology. The agreement was announced on 4 August 2026, and the parties anticipate construction to commence within the next two years. No financial terms were disclosed.
