Clean Energy and bp form joint venture CE bp Renew Co to finance and develop East Valley Cattle RNG facility

Type: Partnership · Technology: Biomass · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-06-08

Clean Energy and bp established the joint venture CE bp Renew Co to finance and develop the East Valley Cattle RNG Facility, a biomethane production project located in California. The facility, designed to process over 5 million gallons of manure daily, captures methane from cow manure using six anaerobic digesters and advanced wastewater treatment systems, converting it into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas (RNG). The RNG produced at the facility received approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in early 2026 to generate Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program and California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) credits. The project marks a material step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil-based natural gas and diesel in transportation fleets, with the RNG achieving a negative carbon-intensity score due to methane capture and lifecycle emissions reductions.
