Type: Investment · Technology: Hydrogen · Country: South Africa · Announced: 2026-08-13

Climate Fund Managers secured a ZAR 3 billion ($182 million) first‑close investment for its SA‑H2 blended‑finance fund targeting green hydrogen projects in Southern Africa. The capital was contributed by anchor investors including Invest International, the European Commission, the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, the Public Investment Corporation, Sanlam Life Insurance Limited and the Development Bank of Southern Africa. The fund aims to finance large‑scale green hydrogen production, green ammonia and green methanol projects across South Africa’s industrial landscape. By mobilising public and private capital, the transaction reduces risk for institutional investors and accelerates the development of low‑carbon fuel infrastructure. The announcement was made on 13 August 2026, positioning the fund to reach its final target of ZAR 12 billion by mid‑2028.
