COLI Group transports 14 power transformers for Baltica 2 offshore wind farm project in Poland

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Offshore Wind · Country: Poland · Announced: 2026-09-01

COLI Group completed a six-month transport project for GE Vernova, moving 14 large power transformers from GE Vernova's Turkish factory to the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm site in Poland. The transformers, ranging from 110 to 361 tonnes each, were shipped across three voyages on separately chartered vessels, with ten units offloaded at Gdynia and four barged to Władysławowo. COLI Group established a temporary storage area in Władysławowo while preparing the job site for transformer reception. The land transport required overcoming material logistical challenges, including constructing a temporary flyover over existing bridges unable to support the heavy cargo and coordinating with Polish authorities during harsh winter conditions with temperatures dropping to -15°C. The Baltica 2 project, scheduled for commissioning in 2027, represents Poland's largest-ever renewable energy investment with 107 wind turbines capable of powering over 2.4 million households.
