Copec acquires La Huella photovoltaic park in Chile
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Solar · Country: Chile · Capacity: 87 MW · Announced: 2026-07-15
Copec acquired the La Huella photovoltaic park from Clean Capital Energy, adding an 87 MWp solar asset to its portfolio. The plant, located in La Higuera, Coquimbo Region, Chile, includes more than 216,000 high‑efficiency panels on single‑axis trackers and a step‑up substation that feeds directly into the National Electric System. The facility is already operational, generating about 200 GWh annually, enough for roughly 90 000 Chilean homes and avoiding roughly 155 000 t of CO₂ each year. Copec plans to integrate a battery energy storage system to dispatch power during peak demand, enhancing grid flexibility. With this acquisition, Copec’s owned solar capacity rises to 355 MWp, reinforcing its strategy to build an integrated portfolio of renewable energy solutions for its customers. No financial terms were disclosed, and the transaction was announced on 15 July 2026.
