CVC DIF to acquire majority stake in German data centre operator firstcolo

Type: Acquisition · Technology: Data Center · Country: Germany · Capacity: 24 MW · Announced: 2026-08-14

CVC DIF announced it will acquire a material majority stake in firstcolo, the Frankfurt‑based colocation data centre operator, from Cube Infrastructure Managers. firstcolo currently runs two operational colocation facilities and is building FRA7 in Rosbach, a new AI‑ready data centre delivering 24 MW of gross capacity. The FRA7 site already has its power supply, permits and a fixed‑price turnkey construction contract, and a regional utility provider will supply the electricity while waste heat will feed the local district‑heating network. The acquisition is being financed through CVC’s DIF Value Add IV vehicle, which targets €2 billion of investments in mid‑market digital and energy‑transition assets. CVC DIF will keep firstcolo’s founder‑led management team in place, positioning the platform to expand further data centre capacity across Germany’s supply‑constrained market.
