CyrusOne partners with Calpine LLC to develop a $1.5bn data center campus in Fairfield, Texas

Type: Development · Technology: Data Center · Country: United States · Capacity: 760 MW · Value: $1.5B · Announced: 2026-07-31

CyrusOne filed to develop three one‑story insulated pre‑cast data center buildings in partnership with Calpine LLC for a $1.5 billion project. The campus will be sited on FM 488 highway in Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, adjacent to Calpine’s 760 MW Freestone Energy natural‑gas combined‑cycle plant. Each building will cover 306,215 sq ft, totaling 918,650 sq ft, with construction already started on two facilities and the third slated for next month. The development leverages the on‑site gas power to supply the data center load, reinforcing CyrusOne’s Texas footprint of 15 data centers. The partnership aligns with Constellation Energy Corporation’s ownership of Calpine, linking the data center to a major utility asset. No tenants have been assigned yet, and the campus is slated for completion by August 2027.
