Danantara Indonesia, through its investment arm Danantara Investment Management, signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Keppel Electric and Sembcorp Utilities to explore the offtake of imported low-carbon electricity from Indonesia to Singapore. The agreements aim to facilitate cross-border electricity trade (CBET) with a target of 3.4 gigawatts or more of projects by 2035. An additional MoU between Singapore Energy Interconnections and Danantara will support information-sharing and collaboration on commercial and technical aspects of cross-border interconnector development. The Indonesian government designated Danantara to lead CBET initiatives between the two countries, with both governments developing regulatory frameworks and policies to enable investment based on agreed milestones. A cross-border renewable energy certificate framework will also be adopted to support the projects.
