Type: Ppa · Technology: Solar · Country: Spain · Capacity: 300 MW · Announced: 2026-09-09
The Junta de Extremadura's General Directorate of Industry granted administrative authorization for the electrical infrastructure of the Nostrum Evergreen data center at the Suroeste Europeo Logistics Platform in Badajoz. The project, promoted by Data Riocaya (a subsidiary of IREN, formerly Ingenostrum), involves a 222,735 square meter complex planned to scale from an initial 300 MW to 500 MW by 2031. A key technical feature is the dedicated 300 MW photovoltaic facility with 350 MWdc capacity, designed to supply in situ renewable energy and limit grid dependency. The development includes a new 400/220 kV substation and two underground 220 kV transmission lines connecting to the national grid node at Río Caya. Additionally, the project received declaration as an Autonomous Community Interest Enterprise, accelerating administrative timelines for this AI-focused industrial complex.
