DEME awarded construction contract by Vattenfall for Nordlicht offshore wind farm

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Offshore Wind · Country: Germany · Capacity: 1.6 GW · Announced: 2026-07-02

DEME was awarded a contract by Vattenfall to transport and install monopile foundations and transition pieces for the Nordlicht offshore wind cluster. The agreement covers 68 monopile foundations and 68 transition pieces for Nordlicht I (980 MW) and 44 for Nordlicht II (630 MW), with each monopile up to 80.5 m long and weighing up to 1,290 t. The farms, located about 85 km north of Borkum in the German North Sea, will host 112 Vestas V236‑15.0 MW turbines and are slated to begin operation in 2028. The deal expands DEME’s offshore wind construction portfolio and supports Vattenfall’s target of generating roughly 6 TWh annually from the Nordlicht cluster. EEW Special Pipe Constructions supplies the monopiles and CS Wind provides the transition pieces, while the first monopile was installed on 1 July 2026. No financial terms were disclosed.
