DH2 Energy finalized financing exceeding €417 million for a 460 MW green hydrogen production facility in Los Rábanos, Soria, Spain, announced via Castilla y León's official gazette on July 31, 2026. The project integrates a 628 MWp photovoltaic self-consumption plant without surplus generation, ensuring renewable electricity supply for the electrolyzer. The facility will export all produced hydrogen via pipeline, with oxygen released to the atmosphere, targeting an annual output of 21,425 to 24,066 tonnes of hydrogen depending on equipment lifecycle conditions. Peak production is estimated at 9,288 kg/h at start-of-life and 8,269 kg/h at end-of-life, with integrated renewable methanol production planned. The project's strategic focus includes supplying hard-to-electrify transport sectors such as aviation, maritime, and rail, leveraging e-fuels to replace fossil fuels without requiring infrastructure modifications.
