Dong Fang takes delivery of newbuild SOV and orders another from Vard

Dong Fang Offshore took delivery of the Orient Inspirer, its first newbuild service operation vessel (SOV) from Vard, two months ahead of schedule on September 16, 2026. The vessel, built to the VARD 4 39 design, is destined for a 12-year operations and maintenance contract for offshore wind farms in Taiwan, with reflagging under the Taiwanese registry planned before the contract start on November 1. The company has also approved an order for a second SOV from Vard, valued between $76 million and $86 million, featuring a different design to meet potential international project requirements. Dong Fang stated its existing operating fleet is fully deployed, and the additional vessel will provide capacity for prospective international business. The remaining vessels in Dong Fang's existing newbuilding program are already backed by operating contracts and are expected to progressively enter service following delivery.
