DRI secures €60 million financing and PPA for 126MWp Văcărești solar park in Romania
Type: Financing · Technology: Solar · Country: Romania · Capacity: 126 MWp · Value: $60M · Announced: 2026-05-22
DRI received a non-recourse financing package of up to €60 million from UniCredit and Garanti BBVA to commission the 126MWp Văcărești solar park in Dâmbovița County, Romania. The project achieved commercial operations on 22 May 2026, adding 126MWp to DRI's Romanian portfolio, which now totals 299MW across three solar parks and one onshore wind farm. The solar park is expected to supply electricity to approximately 50,000 households annually while avoiding around 48,600 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. From January 2027, 50% of the electricity generated will be sold to OMV Petrom under a physical solar power purchase agreement. DRI's CEO Murat Cinar highlighted the project's role in Romania's energy transition by reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels and stabilizing energy costs.
