Type: Financing · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Greece · Capacity: 400 MW · Value: EUR 175M · Announced: 2026-06-08

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has agreed to provide a €175 million loan to Public Power Corporation (PPC) to support renewable energy projects. This financing will facilitate the development of approximately 400MW of new wind and solar capacity across Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania. The loan is supported by a first loss guarantee from the InvestEU programme, backed by the European Union. These projects are projected to generate around 760GWh of electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 390,000 tonnes each year. The investment aims to enhance energy security and increase the share of renewable generation in the three countries, also including a €75,000 grant for skills development in the energy transition.
