Ecoener secures 200 MW solar and 120 MWh storage contracts in Guatemala's largest electricity auction

Ecoener has secured two 15-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Guatemala's largest electricity auction, totaling 200 MW of photovoltaic capacity, with an expected operational start in 2028. The awarded projects include the 140 MWp Cocales solar plant and the 60 MWp La Hulera solar plant, located in Guatemala. Ecoener, a Spanish company, will integrate battery energy storage systems (BESS) into both projects, with Cocales receiving a 20 MW/80 MWh system and La Hulera a 10 MW/40 MWh system. The contracts were awarded on 2026-03-27, following an international process that attracted 51 bids for approximately 4,700 MW. The Guatemala Electricity Auction is the offtaker for the PPAs, while Ecoener is the developer of the solar plants.
