Econergy Renewable Energy connected the 59 MW Iancu Jianu solar project to Romania’s electricity grid, marking the fifth Econergy development in Romania to achieve grid connection. The project is part of Econergy’s Romanian portfolio totaling 743 MW of connected and ready-to-connect capacity, with an additional 861 MW under construction. Concurrently, Econergy secured £42.7 million in project financing from Santander UK and EDF for the 80 MW / 240 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Immingham, England. The financing, structured for project company Ecostor 1 Immingham Ltd, includes a £38.4 million main facility along with a VAT revolving facility and a debt service reserve facility. The funds will primarily support construction of the Immingham BESS and repay shareholder loans provided during development.
