Econergy secures up to 160 million euros investment from Phoenix Financial

The Israeli renewable energy company Econergy has reached an investment agreement worth up to 160 million euros with the Israeli financial firm Phoenix Financial to continue developing its renewable portfolio in Romania. The transaction involves the creation of a UK-based holding company to group the ownership of 16 Romanian projects, with funds to be disbursed over 18 months, including 130 million euros in the first 12 months and an additional 30 million later. This investment supplements a 225 million euro financing framework agreement Phoenix maintains with Econergy, under which Phoenix will also provide an extra 43 million euros, with 38 million earmarked for projects combining solar generation and battery storage. Econergy currently has a portfolio of solar, BESS, and wind projects in Romania totaling 1.1 GW in construction or ready for grid connection.
