EDF Power Solutions, Al Khadra Partners, and OQ Alternative Energy reach financial close on 120 MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali Wind Independent Power Project in Oman
Type: Financing · Technology: Onshore Wind · Country: Oman · Capacity: 120 MW · Announced: 2026-08-11
A consortium led by EDF Power Solutions, alongside Al Khadra Partners and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE), achieved financial close on the 120 MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali (JBB) Wind Independent Power Project in Oman’s South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The project, located 440 km from the Port of Duqm, will deploy 16 wind turbines each with a 7.7 MW generation capacity, with commercial operations expected to commence in Q3 2027. Once operational, JBB will supply electricity to over 13,500 Omani households annually while avoiding 270,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. The project is backed by a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, ensuring long-term revenue stability for the developers. EDF Power Solutions highlighted this as its inaugural wind transaction in Oman, reinforcing its commitment to the Sultanate’s energy transition under Oman Vision 2040. The consortium’s collaboration underscores a shared vision to diversify Oman’s energy mix and advance its decarbonization goals through competitive, low-carbon solutions.
