EDF signed two long-term battery optimisation agreements with Trinasolar International Solution Business Unit to manage and optimise two battery storage projects in the UK: the 40 MW / 80 MWh Ruby project near Aberdeen, Scotland, and the 49.9 MW / 99.8 MWh Chatterley project in Gloucestershire, England. Under the agreements, EDF will operate both projects through its Powershift digital trading and optimisation platform, enabling participation in electricity trading and grid flexibility markets. Ruby is scheduled to begin operations in October 2026, while Chatterley is expected to reach commercial operation in March 2027, with both projects featuring a two-hour storage duration. The collaboration aims to provide contracted revenue to Trinasolar while supporting Britain’s transition to a low-carbon, electrified energy system by unlocking flexibility for grid stability. Trinasolar acquired the Ruby and Chatterley projects prior to the partnership, and the agreements represent a strategic step to maximise their long-term value and operational efficiency.
