Type: Partnership · Technology: Solar · Country: Brazil · Announced: 2026-06-25

EDP and the Prefeitura de Poá signed a partnership to install photovoltaic solar systems in two municipal schools. The project, located in Poá in the São Paulo metropolitan area, involved a total investment exceeding R$ 485,000 and will generate about 125.24 MWh of clean electricity annually. The installations are expected to cut the schools' electricity bills by more than 90%, delivering annual savings of over R$ 100,000 and avoiding roughly 5.7 tCO₂e each year. The initiative is part of the national Energy Efficiency Program (PEE) regulated by ANEEL and demonstrates EDP’s commitment to expanding renewable energy in public facilities. By leveraging LED retrofits alongside the solar arrays, the project also enhances overall energy efficiency for the municipal education sector.
