EIG leads €460 million credit facility for Aukera to fund renewable generation, battery storage, and energy infrastructure projects across Europe

Type: Financing · Technology: Storage · Country: Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, Italy · Announced: 2026-09-02

Energy infrastructure investor EIG Global Energy Partners led a €460 million ($495 million) structured credit facility for Aukera, replacing an initial €200 million commitment with a firmly committed €260 million Series 2 tranche. The financing will support Aukera’s renewable generation, battery storage, and energy infrastructure projects across Belgium, the UK, Germany, Romania, and Italy, where the company currently has nearly 1 GW of projects in construction or operation. Aukera’s development pipeline totals approximately 14 GW across Europe, positioning it as a key player in scaling battery storage capacity to meet the EU’s 2030 target of 200 GW. The transaction reflects EIG’s confidence in Aukera’s diversified portfolio and cross-market expertise in project development, financing, construction, and operations. Catalin Breaban and Pascal Emsens, Co-Founders of Aukera, emphasized the critical need for quadrupling Europe’s battery storage capacity to align with EU climate goals. The financing structure includes advisory support from Nomura Greentech, legal counsel from A&O Shearman (for Aukera) and White & Case (for EIG), and due diligence from Watson Farley & Williams, RINA Consulting, Forvis Mazars, and Aurora Energy Research.
