Eku Energy has acquired the planned 300 MW / 600 MWh Didcot battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Oxfordshire, UK, from TBC Partners. The Didcot BESS project will connect to National Grid’s Didcot Substation via an underground cable, with construction expected to begin later this year and grid connection scheduled for 2028. This acquisition marks Eku Energy’s first transmission-connected battery storage project in the UK, benefiting from upgrades to the 400 kV Didcot Substation. Erin Lee, CFO of Eku Energy, stated that battery storage is an essential part of the UK’s energy infrastructure, providing flexibility and storage capacity. TBC Partners, a London-based investment firm, was advised by Knight Frank Capital Advisory on the transaction.
