Eku Energy Japan secures long-term offtake agreement with Tokyo Gas for Hirohara BESS project

Eku Energy Japan has secured a long-term offtake agreement with Tokyo Gas for its Hirohara battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Miyazaki City. Under the arrangement, Eku Energy Japan will own the battery storage asset, while Tokyo Gas will operate the facility under a 20-year agreement. The project recently completed the delivery and installation of all major equipment, including 32 Tesla Megapack 2 XL battery units. Commercial operations for the Hirohara BESS project are on track for January 2027, following system testing and regulatory inspections. This agreement supports the delivery of critical energy infrastructure for a more resilient and sustainable power system in Japan.
