Type: Acquisition · Technology: Storage · Country: Italy · Capacity: 65 MW · Announced: 2026-08-11

Encavis acquired the 65 MW / 260 MWh Ceprano battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Ceprano, Lazio region, Italy, marking its first utility-scale battery storage investment in the country. The standalone project, scheduled for commissioning in 2028, will integrate with Encavis' existing 420 MW solar PV portfolio in Italy. The acquisition was completed from ReFeel New Energy, an Italian renewable energy developer backed by Gresham House Europe (formerly SUSI Partners) and ReFeel Group. Encavis secured the project as part of its strategic expansion in Italy, where it also obtained approximately 3.7 TWh through Italy’s Energy Release 2.0 programme in early 2026. CEO Mario Schirru emphasized the project's role in enhancing grid flexibility and unlocking additional value from renewable energy integration.
