Endesa and Sonnedix sign 150 MW virtual hybrid PPA for solar and battery assets across Spain and Portugal
Type: Ppa · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Spain, Portugal · Capacity: 150 MW · Announced: 2026-05-27
Endesa signed a 150 MW virtual hybrid power purchase agreement (PPA) with Sonnedix in April 2026, covering solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets across Spain and Portugal. This deal is one of two hybrid solar and BESS PPAs recorded by Pexapark in April, marking a growing trend in Europe where such hybrid agreements remain relatively rare, with only six publicly announced to date. The virtual hybrid structure allows Endesa to source renewable energy from Sonnedix's distributed assets without direct physical delivery constraints. The agreement supports Endesa's renewable energy procurement strategy amid increasing corporate demand for clean energy solutions in Southern Europe. Pexapark's analysis highlights that while hybrid PPAs are emerging, their adoption is still limited compared to traditional standalone renewable PPAs.
