EnergyPathways selects Jacobs as Tier-1 Engineering, Regulatory Partner for LDES project

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Storage · Country: United Kingdom · Capacity: 300 MW · Announced: 2026-09-08

EnergyPathways has selected Jacobs to provide planning, regulatory, consenting, and environmental services for its proposed MESH Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) project in the Irish Sea and Barrow-in-Furness. Jacobs will assist EnergyPathways in its submission to Ofgem's forthcoming Long Duration Energy Storage Cap and Floor round. The MESH project is designated as a project of national significance by the UK Government and is positioned to become the UK's largest LDES project at 300MW / 55 GWh / 100+ hours duration. Jacobs' work will include developing a stakeholder engagement plan covering local council and regional government, a grid connection application, and other workstreams required for the Cap and Floor round and a government Development Consent Order (DCO) submission. The project aims to store increasing amounts of surplus UK wind power, reduce curtailment costs, and lower consumer power bills by providing lower run marginal cost dispatchable power.
