Eni Storage Systems and Seri Industrial form joint venture to build 16 GWh/year LFP battery gigafactory in Brindisi and Teverola

Type: Partnership · Technology: Storage · Country: Italy · Capacity: 16 GWh/year · Announced: 2026-07-06

Eni Storage Systems, a subsidiary of Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB within the Seri Industrial group, initiated construction at the Brindisi industrial site for a new integrated lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery production hub. The project targets 16 GWh/year of LFP battery capacity by 2030, split equally between Brindisi and Teverola (Caserta), representing over 10% of Europe’s stationary storage (BESS) market. The Brindisi facility will house a gigafactory for cell and module production alongside a BESS assembly plant, while the Seri Industrial gigafactory in Teverola will supply modules for final assembly in Brindisi. Eni also entered Faenix, Seri Industrial’s commercial arm for BESS systems produced at both sites. The project repurposes a former Versalis polymer storage area and includes a second-phase expansion for LFP cathode active material production and battery recycling, both scaled to serve the two gigafactories.
